DEF Grants, Scholarships & Reimbursements

Thanks to a generous capacity-building grant from the Outer Banks Community Foundation in June 2016,
all of our Grants, Reimbursements and/or Scholarships are processed through an online portal.
Please CLICK HERE to access the portal.

If you are applying for Classroom Grants, National Boards Reimbursements, Professional Development Scholarships, or Tuition Reimbursement, please follow these instructions for setting up an account.
STEP BY STEP WALK THROUGH

If you are a DCS' student, applying for a student scholarship, please follow these instructions for setting
up an account. STEP BY STEP WALK THROUGH

Initially, you will need to create an account and a profile. Then, your information will automatically
be saved for all future applications, regardless of the DEF program you are applying under. If you are
a DCS' employee, we recommend using your DCS' email name as your Username on our system, so that
it is easy for you to remember. But, that is not mandatory.

It is highly recommended that you read the guidelines for the specific program you are interested in
applying for funds under. Not adhering to the guidelines could delay your funds, or may even result
in your application being excluded from consideration.

================================================================================================ For the 2017-2018 School Year, the deadlines are as follows:

Classroom Grants

The Fall 2017 application period for Dare Education Foundation classroom grants will be open beginning Thursday, August 17, 2017. PLEASE NOTE: There are 2 steps to this process and both must be completed
by the deadline noted below.

First, you will submit a Letter of Intent with a brief description of your grant request. Then, if this LOI
meets all of our requirements, you will be asked to submit a full grant application. PLEASE NOTE:
The full grant application must be submitted by no later than 8am on Tuesday, September 5, 2017,
so submit your LOI today!

If we have any funds remaining after this round, we will have a Spring 2018 Grants Process. Please check
back on this page after 10/15/17 to determine if we have any funds remaining.

The Fall 2018 classroom grant application period will begin by no later than the first day of classes for the 2018-2019 School Year. Check back here for updates as it gets closer.

Professional Development Scholarships
Rolling application period from August 17, 2017 through December 31, 2017, or until all funds have been expended, whichever comes first.

Partial National Board Certification Reimbursements (Initial Application or Renewal Application)
Rolling application period from August 17, 2017 through December 31, 2017, or until all funds have been expended, whichever comes first. Please note that we are not providing any reimbursements for
Renewals in the 2017-2018 school year.

Partial Tuition Reimbursements
For the 2017-2018 school year, no reimbursements will be made before June 2018, and the reimbursements that are made at that time will be determined by a lottery. Rolling applications will be accepted from
August 17, 2017, through June 20, 2018. Each applicant that has submitted an application by June 20, 2018,
will be entered in a drawing. Ten winners will be chosen at random and will be awarded $150/each.
Multiple applications will not increase your chances of winning, as entries will be drawn by name.
